Prof. Dr. Sezer Şener Komsuoğlu

Prof. Dr. Sezer Şener Komsuoğlu is a Medical Doctor, Neurology and Neurophysiology Specialist. She completed her medical and specialization education in Atatürk, Ankara and Hacettepe University. She has worked on Neurophysiology at Birmingham University and Aston University in the UK for 3,5 years.

She get involved in the foundation phases of the Karadeniz Technical University and Kocaeli University in Turkey. Between 2006 and 2014, she worked as the Rector of Kocaeli University for 8 years. She is currently Chairman Advisor to the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and she is also working as the Women Studies Unit Manager in the Academy.

She has more than 250 scientific publications in the field of Neurological Sciences at national and international level. She is the author of the first EEG atlases in Turkey. In addition, she has 6 books in her field. She also carries out social studies on women, women in academia and women leadership.

Professor Komsuoğlu is one of the selected 19 members of the European University Association (EUA) research and innovation committee.

She takes part in the Woman Scientist book published by Oxford University as one of the three scientists selected women.
